Evento de negócios do Festival Internacional de Cinema do Rio de Janeiro traz como tema central “Os desafios de capturar a atenção da audiência: pensando localmente e agindo globalmente”
O RioMarket está de volta, entre os dias 13 e 16 de dezembro. Pela primeira vez em formato 100% virtual e interativo, o evento permitirá a participação de público e empresas do mundo todo. Como de costume, o RioMarket vai reunir renomados profissionais de toda a cadeia produtiva do audiovisual, com o objetivo de contribuir para o desenvolvimento da indústria, promover a troca de conhecimento, além de proporcionar oportunidades de negócios para os diferentes segmentos do mercado (produtoras, exibidoras, distribuidoras, agências de publicidade, rádio difusoras, programadoras, plataformas digitais e profissionais da indústria audiovisual).
Ao longo de suas 21 edições, o evento reuniu grandes nomes do setor dos cinco continentes. Temas importantes, como o surgimento da internet, do streaming e das mídias sociais, assim como a chegada dos estúdios na produção e distribuição do audiovisual brasileiro, entre muitos outros, fazem parte do histórico do evento.
Passaram pelo RioMarket, durante esse período, mais de quatro mil renomados profissionais do Brasil e do mundo, como os criadores da Red Envelope que, posteriormente, deu origem à Netflix, além do CEO Ted Sarandos; Jim Giannopolus, que presidiu o estúdio 20th Century Fox durante grandes produções como “Avatar”, “Titanic”, “X-Men”, “Rio” e entre outros; Gale Ann Hurd, grande produtora americana que produziu “O Exterminador do Futuro 2”, “O Exterminador do Futuro 3 ”, “O Incrível Hulk” e “The Walking Dead”; Patrick Wachsberger, um dos maiores produtores internacionais, que tem em seu portfólio grandes sucessos como o filme “Sr e Sra Smith” e as sagas “Crepúsculo”, “Jogos Vorazes” e “Divergente” .
Parcerias com importantes organismos internacionais e nacionais também foram estabelecidas no RioMarket. Entre elas, a academia de ciência do Oscar, MIT Media Lab, centenas de universidades, órgãos governamentais do Brasil, Estados Unidos, França, México, Canadá, China, Inglaterra, Argentina, etc.
“A inovação sempre fez parte da nossa história, tendo, inclusive, realizado o primeiro filme rodado em 3D no Brasil durante uma das edições do evento, assim como foi o primeiro evento de mercado no mundo a realizar pré-estreia de séries” – afirma Walkiria Barbosa, diretora do festival.

RIOMARKET 2021:
Business Event from Rio de Janeiro Int’l Film Festival brings the theme “The Challenges of capturing the attention of the audience: thinking locally and acting globally” to the table
RioMarket is back, from December 13 to the 16th. For the first time in a 100% virtual and interactive format, the event will allow the audience, players and companies around the world to participate. As usual, Riomarket will gather renowned professionals from the audiovisual production and creative chain with the objective of contributing to the development of the industry, promoting networking, knowledge exchange and providing business opportunities to different market players (producers, exhibitors, distributors, publicity agencies, broadcast radio, programmers, digital platforms and professionals from the audiovisual industry).
Throughout its 21 editions, the event gathered big names from the sector in all five continents. Important themes such as the uprising of the internet, streaming and social media, as well as the arrival of studios in the production and distribution of Brazilian audiovisual content, among many others, are a part of the history of RioMarket.
More than 400 renowned professionals from around the world have joined RioMarket over the years, such as the creators of Red Envelope, which later became Netflix, besides CEO Ted Sarandos; Jim Gianopulos, who presided the studio 20th Century Fox during great productions such as “Avatar”, “Titanic”, “X-Men”, “Rio” among others; Gale Ann Hurd, big american producer who was responsible for “Terminator 2”, “Terminator 3”, “The Incredible Hulk” and “The Walking Dead”; Patrick Wachsberger, one of the greatest international producers, who has in his portfolio big hits as “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and the sagas “Twilight”, “Hunger Games” and “Divergent”.
Partnerships with important national and international organizations were also established during RioMarket. Amongst them, the Oscar’s Academy of Science, the MIT Media Lab, hundreds of universities, governmental institutions from Brazil, USA, France, Mexico, Canada, China, England, Argentina, etc.
“Innovation was always a part of our history, having accomplished the first 3D film shot in Brazil during one of the event’s editions, such as the first market event in the world to do first runs for TV series” – says Walkiria Barbosa, festival’s director.
