The Slate is an event that HC&F holds every four months to introduce actors to the filmmakers they’ll be auditioning for. The event is unique in that it allows actors to get to know a filmmaker’s mission, aesthetics and motivations for telling their stories, rather than continue to have actors “audition in the dark.” During each Slate event, producer Lisa Crnic, and Screenwriter Leilani Downer will introduce 6 new filmmakers to our community, enabling the community to have a down-to-earth dialogue about the projects we’re about to shoot. Then as each filmmaker goes through the different stages of production, we’ll track their progress, and build events around the film, so that each story we cast provides a larger narrative to the community, while offering both Filmocracy and Slate members the ability to expand their creative circles.
